Hot Girl Plate ("we", "us", or "our") is a Calgary-based restaurant deal discovery platform. We built this app to help you find great deals in your city — not to harvest your data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Location data. If you choose to share your location or type an address, we use it solely to calculate distances to nearby deals and restaurants. Location data is processed in your browser and is never stored on our servers.
Saved deals. When you save a deal, that preference is stored locally on your device using your browser's local storage. We do not sync saved deals to any server or account.
Usage data. We may collect anonymised, aggregate analytics (e.g. pages visited, deal views) to understand how the app is being used. This data cannot be linked back to you personally.
No account required. Hot Girl Plate does not require you to create an account or provide personal information such as your name, email, or phone number to use the core features of the app.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the limited information we collect to:
- Show you deals and restaurants near your location
- Remember your saved deals between visits
- Improve the app experience based on aggregate usage patterns
- Respond to any enquiries you send us directly
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Cookies & Local Storage
Hot Girl Plate uses browser local storage to save your deal preferences and filter settings between sessions. We may also use cookies for basic analytics. You can clear local storage and cookies at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will reset your saved deals and preferences.
4. Third-Party Services
We use a small number of third-party services to power the app:
- OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — used to geocode addresses you type into the search bar. Your search query is sent to Nominatim's servers. See OSM's privacy policy.
- Unsplash — used to display food photography on deal cards. Images are served directly from Unsplash's CDN.
- Vercel — our hosting provider. Standard server logs (IP address, request timestamps) may be retained by Vercel per their own privacy policy.
5. Children's Privacy
Hot Girl Plate is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
6. Your Rights
Since we collect minimal personal data and store most preferences locally on your device, the primary way to exercise your privacy rights is to clear your browser's local storage and cookies. If you have any concerns or requests regarding your data, you can reach us at the contact address below.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Hot Girl Plate after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
